This course includes your classroom time covering the current Texas State and Federal laws that surround your ability to carry a handgun, as well as the required shooting proficiency test.
The shooting qualification requires that you must be able to load, unload, and fire the handgun proficiently.
Shooting Proficiency Test Requirement
- 3 Yard Line – 20 rounds
- 7 Yard Line – 20 rounds
- 15 Yard Line – 10 rounds
What’s Included:

- 50 rounds of ammo (available for purchase before the start of class. Subject to availability, call ahead to check)

Not Included:
- State application fee
- Fingerprinting and fingerprinting fee (you will be prompted to schedule your fingerprinting appointment at the end of the DPS application process)
Total course time is about 5-6 hours.
NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FIREARMS TRAINING CLASS AND WILL NOT TEACH YOU HOW TO SHOOT. If you are new to firearms, we strongly encourage you to take our Basic Handgun course prior to taking the class.
TEXAS ONLINE LICENSE TO CARRY

You can take our Online Texas License to Carry class at your own pace on your desktop, laptop, iPad or even on your smart phone while at your own home. Our Online Texas LTC class is only 4 hours long and you can stop, log out and log back in and pick up right where you left off.

Who Can Take Our Online Texas LTC Class
Anyone from anywhere Texas can take our online Texas license to carry class. We are the official online Texas LTC class provider approved Statewide by the Texas Department of Public Safety. We have thousands of students from all across Texas. Immediately upon passing our online class you will be able to download your official certificate of training.
Range Portion
After you complete our online class you will instantly be able to download your certificate of training (LTC101). You take this certificate to ANY local LTC instructor in your area and they will complete the shooting portion for you. All of our online students will receive access to our instructor locator to find a LTC instructor in your area if you need help finding one. They will fill out the range portion of your certificate.
Exempt From The Range Portion
- Texas correctional officers (CO’S) are automatically exempt from the range portion.
- Active duty military or veterans that have within the past 10 years completed training in the familiarization of firearms OR have firearm shooting scores from the military.
- County Jailers that have completed firearms training as part of their employment.
FILLING FOR A LICENSE TO CARRY
STEP 1
Choose a class date & time from our website and pay for your class.
STEP 2
Go to https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/ltc/ and fill out your DPS application to the state of Texas and pay the non-refundable fee of $40. (Certain persons are eligible to receive a discount on this fee.
For more information on fees and eligibility, please see the DPS’s FAQ’s). All information you will need to have available to fill out your DPS allocation is located on the first page of this link
STEP 3
At the end of your DPS application and your payment has processed, you will be prompted to schedule a fingerprinting appointment.
You will be redirected to the MorphoTrust/Identogo website to fill in the required information and pay your $10 fingerprinting cost.
If you have scheduled your class out far enough, you may be able to get your fingerprints done the same day as your class. If not, you will need to make an appointment before or after your class date.
STEP 4
Attend your License to Carry class and take your shooting proficiency with one of our trainers at Bullseye Precision (License To Carry (bullseye-precision.com).
We take our shooting test after class so make sure you know how to shoot before you come to class.
It is HIGHLY recommended that you take our Basic Handgun course or private lesson prior to taking your License to Carry class.
STEP 5
Once you pass your License to Carry class and Shooting Proficiency, you will receive the LTC 100 Document. This document is where your instructor signs off on your class time and shooting proficiency. It is YOUR responsibility to send this into the state of Texas via mail or email.
If mailing you may send to: Texas Department of Public Safety, P.O. Box 4087 Austin, TX 78773-0245.
If you would like to email, scan the document into .pdf format, then go to: https://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/contact/chlatt.aspx. Then do the following:
- From the 1st dropdown select “Handgun Licensing”
- From the 2nd dropdown, select “Submit LTC Supporting Document”
- Fill in all identifying information requested (except Handgun License number as you don’t have one yet.)
- Choose .pdf
- Click “Attach”
- Click “Submit”
- You will then receive a confirmation email from the state of Texas to the email address you provided.
STEP 6
In 8-12 weeks you will receive your license in the mail. Bullseye Precision cannot contact the DPS for you to see the status of your application. If you would like to inquire about your application you can call (512) 424-7293 or submit an electronic inquiry to the DPS here.

SCHEDULE OF FEES TO GET YOUR LICENSE TO CARRY
Bullseye Precision Fees:
$70 – License to Carry Course. Includes shooting qualification, classroom instruction time, firearm rental (if needed, rental fee not included), and target fee. Ammo is available for purchase before the start of your class (Subject to availability, call ahead to check).
State Fees:
$40 – State fee for your License to Carry. (Discounted for Law Enforcement, Military, Veterans, etc. Please see the DPS’S LTC Fee Schedule for more information.)
$10 – Fingerprinting
